At the end of November, a number of local business representatives attended the Employer Presentations made by Year 13 students. Each student delivered a 4-minute speech on a topic of his or her choice, demonstrating their ability to communicate effectively- a key skill for any employee. Topics ranged from ‘Focus’ to ‘Procrastination or Creative Thinking?’ Students delivered thought-provoking speeches on ‘Failure to Innovate’ and ‘Teamwork: What we can learn from the All Blacks’.
Speeches were followed by a networking event where students were able to speak informally with business representatives, and learn more about potential roles. The day was finished off with a series of career-readiness workshops.
Our Year 13s ended the day tired but motivated to do their best in order to prepare for the exciting careers ahead of them.
